BritBrag — card game explained

BritBrag (also written Brit Brag) is a house-banked version of Brag, a three-card gambling game with deep roots in Britain. Brag descends from Primero, a card game played in Elizabethan England that is also counted among the ancestors of poker. The casino version is also known as 3-Card Casino Brag and is closely related to Three Card Poker.

Play is quick. Each player places an ante and receives three cards, as does the dealer. After looking at the hand, the player either folds, losing the ante, or places a play bet, usually equal to the ante, to compete against the dealer’s hand.

Hand rankings come from the Brag tradition and differ in places from five-card poker, so it is worth reading the paytable first. House rules, including any dealer qualifier and bonus payouts, vary between venues.
