Studios and land-based streaming

For its first three years the company worked with other operators before opening its own first studio in Riga, Latvia. Malta followed in 2014, then Tbilisi (Georgia), Vancouver (Canada) and New Jersey (USA). More recent additions include studios in Michigan and Connecticut in the USA and in the Czech Republic.

Through its Dual Play product, Evolution streams tables from real casinos so online players can join people playing on the floor. Venues include The Hippodrome in London, Dragonara Casino in Malta, Genting casinos across the UK and Grand Casino Bucharest. Evolution set out to connect RNG casino games with the atmosphere of a land-based casino. In its early years video streaming and internet speeds were far from ideal, so live tables that let people feel the casino atmosphere at home, talk to real dealers and watch every card and spin were a genuine breakthrough.

2009: the company added studios in Latvia along with facilities for high-stakes players, and signed major online casinos including Unibet and 888, which brought its platform into their lobbies.

2010: its focus on quality earned the EGR Supplier of the Year award.

2011–2012: Evolution grew across Europe. It became the first live dealer operator approved by an Italian regulator, expanded its production space and gaming floor in Latvia, obtained a Class 4 licence from the MGA and launched the first live tables built for mobile.

The next three years: the focus shifted to deepening existing markets and entering new ones. A studio opened in Malta, the 100th live table went live in Riga, and new titles such as Ruleta En Vivo, Live Three Card Poker and Caribbean Stud Poker reached the market.

Recognition: dozens of awards followed, including Product Innovation of the Year at the Global Gaming Awards in Las Vegas, Digital Product of the Year and Best In-Casino Streaming Live Dealer Provider. Hundreds of online casinos now carry its games, and the Evolution name itself draws players.

2020: Evolution bought NetEnt and Red Tiger, rebranded from Evolution Gaming to simply Evolution and reached its largest market share yet.

2021 onwards: it launched the first live game show to combine live casino with slots and acquired Big Time Gaming. Ezugi, Nolimit City and DigiWheel are also part of the group, and in 2024 Evolution added Livespins and Arcadia Gaming Solutions.

Evolution employs more than 10,000 people. As a public limited company listed on Nasdaq Stockholm, it publishes its results: revenue for January to June 2024 was €1,009.9 million, and EBITDA rose 13.0% to €691.6 million, a 68.5% margin. The company notes that this is 289% above its 2019 revenue of €259 million. Annual revenue is around €1,000 million.

A Board of Directors governs the group. Co-founder Jens von Bahr chairs it, and fellow co-founder Fredrik Österberg also sits on the board. Martin Carlesund leads the executive team as CEO.
