Roulette rules, bets and variants

Roulette is a casino table game in which players bet on where a ball will land on a spinning numbered wheel. The wheel and the betting layout mirror each other: players place chips on single numbers, small groups of numbers or broad outside bets such as red or black, and the croupier spins the wheel, launches the ball and pays the winning bets once it settles in a pocket.

European roulette has 37 pockets, 1 to 36 plus a single zero, which gives a house edge of about 2.7%. American roulette adds a double zero, raising it to about 5.26%, while French tables can apply the la partage or en prison rule to even-money bets. Online, operators can offer RNG versions, live dealer tables and modern variants such as Lightning Roulette and Double Ball Roulette, usually through a live casino integration.
