A royal flush is the highest hand in standard poker: ace, king, queen, jack and ten, all of the same suit. Technically it is the best possible straight flush, and it cannot be beaten unless wild cards are in play. In Texas Hold’em, two different royal flushes can never appear in the same hand, because each needs at least three suited board cards; the only way to tie is when the board itself shows the royal flush.
The odds of being dealt one in five cards are 1 in 649,740; with seven cards to choose from, as in Hold’em, they shorten to roughly 1 in 30,940. In video poker it is the top line on the paytable, typically paying 4,000 coins on a five-coin maximum bet in Jacks or Better, so operators should make clear in the rules how the top payout depends on the stake.
