Baccarat — table game explained

Baccarat is a casino card game built around three possible bets: the Player hand wins, the Banker hand wins, or the two tie. In most versions nobody at the table plays a hand personally; everyone backs an outcome, so any number of people can bet on the same round.

Hand values are simple. Cards two to nine count at face value, aces count as one, and tens and picture cards count as zero. Only the last digit of a total matters, so a seven and an eight make 15, which is worth 5. The hand closer to nine wins, and fixed drawing rules decide whether a third card is dealt.

Well-known variants include Punto Banco, Mini Baccarat, Chemin de Fer, Baccarat Banque and European Baccarat. For operators, baccarat is a staple of live dealer lobbies with a strong following in Asian markets, so table limits and commission settings deserve careful configuration.
