A pallet, sometimes spelled palette, is the long, flat paddle a baccarat croupier uses to slide cards across the table. Traditional big-table baccarat seats a dozen or more players around an oversized layout, so the dealer cannot reach every position by hand. With a pallet, usually made of wood, the croupier can pass cards to players, place them in the Player and Banker boxes and gather them up again without leaving the dealing position. Keeping the cards flat on the felt and in full view also helps protect the game.
Online baccarat does not rely on the tool: RNG versions animate the deal, and live dealer tables are arranged so the dealer can place cards in the Player and Banker areas directly. The term is still worth knowing for support and VIP teams, because experienced baccarat players often bring land-based vocabulary with them.
