A table limit is the pair of betting limits attached to a table game: the minimum stake a player must bet to take part, and the maximum any single bet may reach. The term is used in both land-based and online casinos.
Land-based casinos use table limits to decide what kind of player each table attracts. A high minimum, for example, turns a table into a high-roller game, while low limits keep it open to casual players. Depending on the casino and the game, limits can be fixed or can change during the day. When they change, players already seated are usually grandfathered in: they keep playing under the old limits for a while, or until they leave, according to the casino’s own rules.
Setting table limits online
In RNG and live dealer games, limits are set per table. A sensible spread, with low-stakes tables for newcomers and high-roller tables for VIPs, widens your audience while keeping exposure under control. Limits are also the natural brake on progressive betting systems.
