Fourth Street in poker: the fourth card explained

Fourth street is a poker term with two meanings. In community-card games such as Texas Hold’em and Omaha, it is the fourth card dealt face up on the board, usually called the turn. It comes after the flop betting round and is followed by its own round of betting, the third of the hand.

In seven-card stud, fourth street is the second betting round, played after each player receives a second face-up card. Each player then holds two hole cards and two up cards. In many fixed-limit stud games, a player who shows an open pair on fourth street may choose to bet the bigger amount. In both families of poker, fourth street is where draws start to get expensive.

Use both names

Players search for the same card in different ways. Using both “fourth street” and “turn” in game guides and help pages makes them easier to find.
