Junket meaning: complimentary casino trips

A junket is a complimentary trip that a casino arranges for valued players. Travel and accommodation are paid for by the casino in exchange for an agreed amount of play. Junkets are usually part of a VIP programme and are offered to loyal players who spend a lot of time and money at the tables.

The offer comes with conditions. Players typically pay a minimum deposit, or front money, in advance and commit to a set number of hours of play at the host casino. Each programme differs in what it covers and what it asks for, so it pays to read the details before accepting. Knowing the term also makes it easier to compare what different casinos offer their best customers. Online operators run similar VIP trips and event invitations through account managers, funded from the VIP budget and linked to turnover.
