Pit Manager meaning in casino gaming

A pit manager, often called the pit boss, is the supervisor in charge of the table games inside a casino pit. The role sits above the dealers and floor supervisors: the pit manager watches the games and the players, approves chip fills, credits and markers, settles disputes about payouts or procedure and makes sure every table follows house rules. In larger casinos the titles can be layered, with pit bosses running individual pits and a pit manager overseeing several of them during a shift.

The pit manager also rates players for comps and works closely with surveillance when a game looks irregular. In online and live dealer casinos, the same responsibilities are shared between studio floor managers, risk and fraud teams and VIP managers, who rely on back-office tools rather than a walk around the tables.
